Published under:

Tell the IAAF to stay out of Caster Semenya’s pants. Sign the XX-Why petition and tell them science and biology do not make--or unmake--a woman.

this type of thing was bound to happen on a huge media scale sooner or later

as an xxy
and knowing of swyers syndrome and all sorts of syndromes
there are a mix of understandings on planet earth
and we need to accept that its not just males and females anymore
in a standard easy to understand xy =male and xx= female
its just not true

and hasn't been for some time
yet we all have believed it

i will write some more again i need sleep but this area is important to comment on

Not ONLY about looks

As far as I understand this situation, the request of the International governing body of track and field was made PRIMARILY due to Semenya's rather abrupt appearance on the scene with absolutely stellar times (blowing competition away by whole seconds in events usually won by hundredths of seconds) that at least raised the suspicion that, IF her genetic make-up is XY, she could have a mechanical advantage over the other XX female competitors. Phenotypically, men are built differently than women--that's why the nature of competition in sports across the two genders is so different. Men are taller, stronger, and faster than women on average. Evolution built men and women differently. Perhaps the request by the track and field governing body could have been made differently, but I actually don't think it's entirely inappropriate.
