Housing

Living in a city, especially San Francisco, can be expensive. Cost of housing varies with type of accommodation and neighborhood. On average, a one bedroom accommodation might cost around $700-$1500. For students, this might be a bit expensive. However, there are resources and places where you can find cheaper lodging such as hostels, temporary housing, sublets, vacation rentals and extended stay hotels. SF-Bay Area Craigslist (http://sfbay.craigslist.org) has many postings that you can filter by neighborhood, price and type of accommodation. We suggest that you start looking at these postings and finalize your deal early, as most of these places are rented within a few hours of being posted. However, you may also find great deals a few weeks before your arrival, as most of these listings are up for immediate move-ins.

You might also want to consider living in nearby cities like Daly City or Oakland, as they are much less expensive than San Francisco and are only a 20-30 minute train-ride away (BART – http://www.bart.gov).
