    The Institute for Sexuality, Social Inequality, and Health (NSRC and CRGS) in San Francisco is searching for a Deputy Director. The Deputy Director will provide daily management of all Institute activities and staff under the direction of the Institute’s Executive Director. This position will work with the NSRC director to create vision and implement mission across all programs and with the CRGS director to support grants development and faculty relationships.

     Major Job Activities:

       1. Provide onsite daily management of all Institute activities, and oversee all Institute events, under direction of Institute Executive Director. 30%

       2. Work with NSRC director and senior staff to create vision and implement mission across all programs and in national outreach. 20%

       3. Development - enhance resources and build capacity in fund raising activities, and lead donors effort; support CRGS director in faculty grants development. Manage Institute Board relationships. 30%

       4. Work with the Operations Manager to provide sound fiscal practices and ensure budget integrity; Provide for all Institute reports and review all major media/outreach materials for public. 20%

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

        * High profile in the field of sexuality and reproductive rights, health and education nationally, including refined knowledge of the major organizations in the field and networks in relation to them;

        * General knowledge of administrative survey principles and techniques and skill in their application; general knowledge of principles of organization and management;

        * Thorough knowledge of the field of sexuality and reproductive rights, health, and education policies, including non-governmental organizations in the US as appropriate to building outreach and implementing the Institute's mission;

        * Skilled at managing multiple staff members and coordinating a wide range of projects; skilled at grant writing and relationship building with prospective funders, including private and public sectors; ability to create and maintain successful relationships with national advisory board to Institute;

        * Ability to see the interrelationships within and among the various educational, administrative, and fiscal programs of the institute, and to innovate and create new programs where appropriate;

        * Ability to present findings and recommendations clearly and diplomatically in person and in reports to funders, and to reconcile, to the extent possible, various divergent points of view;

        * Ability to draw conclusions and develop recommendations, to prepare written reports, employ appropriate methodologies, and to develop at all levels appropriate contacts with high profile individuals and institutions in the country, including the leading of national meetings and inter-institution negotiations.

        * Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including media relations.

    Preferred Qualifications:

        * Proven track record and success in an executive role in a non-profit and/or education setting (five years or more preferred);

        * Graduate or post-graduate degree in an appropriate area of study;

        * Demonstrated effectiveness in managing staff; Demonstrated track record in handling grants and funders; Demonstrated track record in fund raising;

        * Ability to execute plans and implement strategies and programs in timely, efficient, and effective manner.

    Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000
