    Assistant Professor in Sexuality Studies

    The Department of Sexuality Studies at San Francisco State University invites immediate applications for a tenure-track assistant professor, area open. We seek a candidate who has demonstrated excellence in research and teaching and has demonstrated commitment to the area of sexuality studies. Areas of research and teaching emphasis include but are not limited to: sexualities and the Internet, reproductive health and rights, health disparities, disability, African-American sexualities, community-based participatory research, and lesbian studies. The interdisciplinary faculty of the Sexuality Studies department is distinguished by an emphasis on social science research. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in the social, behavioral, or health sciences.

    Consideration is given to candidates with the ability to mentor and teach undergraduate and graduate students from diverse gender, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of an extramurally funded research program and publications or show significant promise of such, and have the ability to write for and communicate with both academic and lay audiences.  Sexuality Studies is the only department of its kind in the United States outside of the medical sciences at a public university, offering a Master of Arts in Sexuality Studies and two undergraduate Minor degrees. It also has a national and international profile through the National Centers on Sexuality (NCS) that include: the National Sexuality Resource Center (NSRC) and the Center for Research on Gender and Sexuality (CRGS).  We seek a teacher-scholar with vision, broad knowledge of and likelihood of achieving national visibility and leadership in the field of sexuality studies.
