November 7, 2006 marks the official launch of the UCSRT's Dialogues beta. A lot of hard work has gone into preparing this launch. We owe a lot of thanks to Praveen Basaviah, the Dialogues site administrator, for his assistance throughout the entire process of designing and developing Dialogues; Charles Klein of the NSRC for his assistance in requirements analysis; and the entire BSS Computing team.
The beta launch will see a new set of accounts being rolled out regularly by the site administrator, with our first goal to bring in all of the users who have signed up through the holding site. However, anyone can sign up to become a member. The staged roll-out is designed to ensure the best experience for the most users. Glitches and mis-features are, to a certain extent, inevitable, and we expect that our earliest users will discover a few.
UCSRT's Dialogues is a novel site combining social networking, job and grant opportunity postings, and editorial content within the specific domain of sexuality research and training. The goal of the site is to foster a community around sexuality research and training by providing individual members of the community to discover and communicate/collaborate with their colleagues across institutions and disciplines.
