Snap!shots: 2009 Frameline Film Reviews

Frameline's San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival is the longest running, largest and most widely recognized LGBT film exhibition event in the world. The National Sexuality Resource Center is proud to partner with Frameline and Frameline Distribution, which offers NSRC programmatic support for our Summer Institute, complete with film screenings.
We couldn't wait until the films came out on DVD though, and sent NSRC staff to watch them on the big screen (it's a tough job...). Here are our favorites--if you see any you're interested in, please contact Frameline Distribution for more information.
The Lollipop Generation
The Lollipop Generation is the first feature film by Canadian director G.B. Jones. The script tries to provide the audience with a pseudo true-to-life, but humorous take on the life of a band of misfit queer kids. Read more >
Calling All Nerds and Art Freaks
This program I felt was particularly fascinating, perhaps due to (save for) Harvey Milk, I was unaware of the people each of these short documentaries were highlighting. The film was entitled Calling All Nerds and Art Freaks, which was under the program: 60's/70's Underground & Queer Cinema, so each of the shorts within the film took a more historical perspective. Dirt and Desire takes you on a sexy, sex-positive, and ultimately queer adventure through the imaginations and blissfully dirty minds of nine filmmakers. They explore a variety of sexual desires and preference, promising no one will be turned away! Read more>
